Red Melodi is a HipHop based group of artist from Camden Town, London, UK. The group is made up of Michael Sykes and Richie Adams. Michael is the rapper, Richie is the guitarist, and together they produce the songs and lead the live band.
Red is the composer and writer of the group. Red refers to their music as a psychedelic soup influenced by hip-hop, funk, rock, and soul. Their latest project is an EP called “Area 33,” which is their second EP. Their first-ever project is called “El Dopa.”
They plan to release a few singles throughout this year leading up to their 2025 album. Mike and Richie elaborated on their greatest experience as an artist. First, Mike said,
“Any time I’m in front of a crowd that picks up on the hooks or does ad-libs for me is always a trip! Seeing my first solo release coming together has also been an amazing experience, and I’m looking forward to that dropping in summer 24.”
Richie stated,
“Watching a song idea evolve into a finished piece & just continuing to be able to do this, I love it. My guitar keeps me sane!”
One of their biggest goal of 2024 is playing at some “vibey” show they quoted with a live band.
“In between shows and rehearsals, we’ll continue the writing process and tracking parts for the upcoming singles.”
They all agreed to travel more on tours in the near future. Studio time keeps them busy more than they expect along with their personal lives. Their biggest challenge as musicians is getting their music heard in a work full of talent, as they quoted.
Mike said Method Man and Redman, Rick Rubin, Mike Shinoda, Eminem, and The Roots influenced him to start making music. Richie stated that Incubus, Tame Impala, Jamiroquai, King Crimson, DJ Shadow, and hundreds more influenced him to start making music. Outside of music, they plan to continue their freelance creative work, putting together events, and building on our studio headquarters. Some achievements they have made as an artist are the albums they released so far, finding band members for performances, and having regular sessions with talented producers.
Their favorite lyrics from one of their songs already are,
“No rest for the wicked I been awake for a month and I got a long life expectancy coz the good die young.”
They stated that there to give the artists in the industry are Gorillaz, Tame Impala, Foster The People, and Rag n Bone Man. They all described their Support system as strong.
“We have a strong production team & some amazing loyal fans.”
Their advice to upcoming artists is,
“Use that technique ‘wrong’ if it sounds right. Learn the science then break the rules. Practice every day. Treat music like a job, but make sure you love your work.”
Mike spoke about his favorite song released so far,
“For me it’s Overtime, it’s so upbeat and punchy and a lot of fun to perform. I also really like What We Do, especially the contrast between sections.”
Richie stated,
“I’m gonna have to say The Fifth Element (Funky stuff feels like home) & Up In It (I’ve never put guitars to a trap beat.”
